Our Late Harvest Zinfandel is left on the vine 1-2 months after the grapes have achieved peak ripeness. Harvesting later allows the fruit to become sweeter and more concentrated. This wine is both higher in residual sugar as well as in alcohol. Zinfandel is an ideal varietal for dessert wine because of its jammy and fruit forward nature.
This wine is rich in flavor and has a bold, full-bodied mouth feel. Creamy and velvety, yet not overdone. Intense vibrant red fruits of sweet ripe plum, black cherry, and red currants mingle with hints of chocolate and vanilla. This melt-in-your-mouth wine will satisfy the deepest of cravings.
Food Pairings: Pair with bitter dark chocolates to accentuate the cherry and currant flavors. Try it with chocolate desserts, salted caramels, truffles, and berry cobbler. Pairs well with Pecorino, triple-cream Brie, Blue cheese and Gorgonzola.
We recommend pairing your dessert wine with foods that less sweet than our wine in order to avoid making the wine taste bitter in comparison to the dessert. It is important to contrast flavors to best highlight the wine.
